Start Here

I’ve been meaning to do “this” for a long time and recently I was gifted an indefinite amount of free time, so what better time than now?

As I’m rounding out my 29th year and rolling into my 30’s, I feel the need to take a moment to reflect on the past year. I’ve experienced more change than I have in my entire life in the past 4 months, but I can honestly say I am the happiest I’ve ever been in my life because of it.

It’s been four and half years since I moved to New York and this city has shaped the hell out of me. Not to discredit my roots; Seattle taught me how to unabashedly be myself and that being genuine was always better than being cool. In recent life lessons, New York has taught me how to slow down, how to really love myself, and most importantly how to be a better photographer.

In Seattle, my camera was practically a part of my face. I never left home without it. The first two years of me living in New York, my camera stayed home more often than not. I got caught up in the hustle and bustle that is New York City and forgot hit pause every now and then to reflect on and document the reasons why I love being here.

That said, in this new chapter of my life, I am challenging myself to take my camera outside. By that, I mean, outside of the shoots that I have scheduled. I’m going to start with posting one or two pictures at a time, but once I get my rhythm and sequencing right, you’ll see more than a just diptych.
